Three dream nights at the Maslina Resort

Croatia, its picturesque villages, its magnificent little ports and its bucolic landscapes, that’s the picture I painted of my holiday before leaving. I might as well say it straight away, I wasn’t wrong! And to start this break, I had the chance to stay at the Maslina Resort, an eco-responsible hotel nestled on the island of Hvar, in the heart of 3 hectares of preserved nature.

After an early morning flight and a boat transfer from Split, my companion and I discovered the sumptuous landscapes that would become the backdrop of our stay: a magnificent coastline dotted with islets, each more idyllic than the last. It was on Hvar, one of the most beautiful islands in the bay of Maslinica, that we docked to reach our resort for three nights, the Maslina Resort.

A kind word, a big smile and refreshment towels… as soon as we arrived at the wharf, the reception team gave us an absolutely impeccable welcome before guiding us to the reception to check in. One of the staff members then accompanied us to the bar to offer us a welcome drink, which we enjoyed with the hotel manager who came to greet us. Due to our early arrival time, our room was not quite ready but the staff offered us the opportunity to go to the spa to put on a swimming costume and enjoy the pool while we waited; a nice touch that saved us a wait at reception.

After this refreshing dip, we went to our room, a Junior Suite Panorama, in which welcome gifts (biscuits and chocolate) were waiting for us! Impeccable cleanliness, impeccable comfort and a sumptuous view on the pool and the sea are the words that come to mind when I think of our room.

The hotel has a strict policy of being environmentally friendly: no disposable plastic in the rooms! In addition to this ecological aspect, the absence of plastic brings a « home-like » feel that immediately put us in a very relaxing atmosphere. The large glass jars containing the shower gel, the smaller ones holding the cotton and cotton buds, and the incredible quality of the sheets, towels, bathrobes and slippers… all these little elements contribute to create a luxurious and very soothing cocoon.

If I look hard enough, I can only find one negative point: we were unable to connect to the Marshall speaker in our room, which blended in beautifully with the decor and did not detract from the beauty of the place.

Catering, sport and relaxation; three important areas of the hotel world that the Maslina manages to manage with a master’s hand. The food is simply delicious, the dishes are tasty and very well prepared for both breakfast and lunch. Just a small remark about the children’s menu, which I found a little too basic for a hotel of this standing. I raised the subject with the hotel manager who assured me that his team was planning to rework the menu to offer the youngest guests dishes that are as healthy as those offered to adults.

As for the spa and fitness room, they are absolutely perfect! Clean and tidy, the relaxation area invites you to totally disconnect. The naturalness of the products used for massages and the local approach to treatments based on essential oils produced in the region are in line with the resort’s eco-responsible approach. The gym, also fully equipped and maintained, offers free outdoor yoga classes every morning (a great way to start the day) and personalised gym sessions for an additional fee.

There is, however, one point that the hotel could easily remedy: the lack of self-service water in the fitness room. Easy access to water and, why not, small snacks (dried or fresh fruit, for example) would be a big plus!

Before leaving the hotel, I couldn’t help but make a short deviation to its kids’ club, probably because of professional deformation! Located in the heart of the hotel, this incredibly decorated kids’ club is divided into two parts – one indoor and one outdoor – and offers a multitude of activities. Board games, climbing, crafts, water games, cognitive development workshops, group sports sessions… children never get bored at the Maslina Resort.

I almost forgot to mention three things that stood out during my stay: the sandy beach, located 3 minutes’ walk from the hotel, which is really incredible for families, the free shuttle service that connects the resort to the centre of Stari Grad, the neighbouring village, and the self-service electric bikes that are absolutely perfect for getting around the island without getting into trouble.

I was truly enchanted by the hotel itself, its decoration, its charm, and the atmosphere it exudes. Very conducive to rest and relaxation, the Maslina Resort is a warm, comfortable and tastefully furnished place. I particularly appreciated all the little touches that set it apart, in my opinion, from other establishments in its category. I highly recommend it to young couples as well as to families with children who wish to enjoy an active yet relaxing holiday in a luxurious setting.

Yours sincerely,

Aude
