Last July, we spent a few days on holiday with our family at the legendary Normandy hotel.
We hadn’t been there for several years and were delighted to discover that the experience offered by this flagship of the Barrière group remains exceptional.
Easily accessible by car, the hotel is a real kid-friendly cocoon where everything is designed to delight children and their parents.
The Junior Suite Prestige in which we stayed offers a magnificent sea view and its generous dimensions are perfect for a family of two adults and two children.
The hospitality products are by Guerlain, the bedding is very comfortable and the toile de Jouy that adorns the walls gives the place an irresistible charm.
Located on the third floor, this suite does not have a terrace and its ceilings are slightly sloping.
Travelling with our little Dachshund June, the staff had taken care to prepare bowls, cousin and toy. A packet of « made in France » treats from Txaku was waiting for our dog when we arrived in our room. So chic!
For us, the pastry chef had concocted a banana cake and had the good idea of printing out the recipe so that we could reproduce it at home.
The hotel’s kids’ club, located on the first floor, is beautifully decorated and staffed by top-class entertainers. The man in charge is Thibaut, and he’ll go to any lengths to keep your children entertained. Every day, Normandy weather permitting, the entertainers take the children to the beach for some great football and other games.
The Bar de la Mer restaurant on the beach belongs to the hotel and also has its own kids’ club: l’Ile aux enfants. This comes in handy when parents spend a long time at the table.
What’s more, when you stay in a Suite at the Normandy, you can hire sun loungers and towels on the beach free of charge. The hotel valet can take you to the beach in an electric mini Mok.
You can have lunch on your deckchair or, of course, go to the terrace of the Bar de la mer. It has a great sound system!
Just opposite the hotel, tennis courts and a mini-golf course are also great for families.
During our stay, the Barrière group organised confidential cinema screenings in the presence of the actors. The screening of Ducobu 3 in the presence of Ellie Semoun delighted the young film buffs.
In terms of minor imperfections, the sauna-hammam area could do with a little refurbishment (for example, some small mosaics are coming loose).
The Normandy’s indoor swimming pool is great for children.
The staff take great care to ensure that your stay runs smoothly.
Special mention should be made of the members of the valet/baggage handling service, who are exceptionally friendly and helpful!
The breakfast is simply incredible. Both for its setting and for the quality & diversity of the products on offer. We fell in love with the homemade rice pudding, the raspberry tart and the homemade brioche.
What we particularly liked about staying at Le Normandy was the feeling of experiencing precious moments in a legendary setting that has stood the test of time. Here, the notion of luxury is not pretentious, it’s warm and welcomes all guests, even those in short pants!
That’s why I can only recommend that you try it yourself.
Our good addresses within a two-minute walk of the hotel:
⁃ Bonpoint: French elegance to dress your children.
⁃ American Vintage Kids: super cool and colourful clothes.
⁃ Restaurant Le Drakkar (brasserie cuisine in a chic, hushed atmosphere.)
⁃ Restaurant Le Hibouville (brasserie cuisine revisited in a friendly, trendy atmosphere.)
Enjoy your stay « made in Normandy »!
Jérome
