In sunny Punta Cana at Tortuga Bay Hotel

After a stay at The Westin Punta Cana, my stay in the Dominican Republic continues in an equally heavenly establishment: the Tortuga Bay Hotel at Puntacana Resort Club. Here is the story of a few wonderful days spent in Punta Cana with my partner. A dream holiday to escape the dreariness of March and to fill up with sunshine!

When we booked, we were able to take advantage of the VIP service for free. This means that the Tortuga Bay Punta Cana experience starts right after the plane lands! We were escorted out of the airport by a private shuttle to avoid all the queues at the administration and border control. To sum up, we had nothing to do but get off the plane until we arrived in the room! What a pleasure to feel on holiday so quickly!

Please note that the same service is also included on departure, with the additional right to spend time in the airport’s air-conditioned VIP lounge with free snacks and drinks. The classic hall has no air-conditioning and there are huge queues at the border controls (which we were able to avoid). Between the two, the choice is quickly made!

After a short walk through the lush Dominican landscape, we were greeted by the villa manager who took us straight to our room for easy check-in. She provided us with a mobile phone so that we could reach her for any queries or organisational needs. To our surprise, she also gave us the keys to our golf cart so that we could roam freely throughout the resort during our stay! This is another benefit of the VIP service.

The property is set in a beautiful palm garden along a long white sandy beach. We stayed in the Junior Suite – Ocean View, a beautiful, generously sized room with 2 bathrooms, a small kitchen and a large terrace located on the first floor. The perfect accommodation for small families!

Depending on their booking, guests are provided with bikes and a golf cart to explore outdoor activities and attractions such as the resort’s restaurants, golf courses, Six Senses Spa and The Westin’s facilities. The roads are safe and quiet as they are all within the secure resort area of the club. So, there was hardly any traffic, handy for family tours!

The beach is beautiful with a line of sun loungers and a bar for maximum relaxation.

We found Tortuga Bay to be a really peaceful place as most of the activities were outside. Even with several families having fun in the pool or hot tub, the place remains calm and relaxing.

When it comes to gastronomy, we enjoyed the wide choice of restaurants available to us! As most of them are located outside the hotel, a clear and comprehensive list of information is provided to guests at the reception.

I would particularly recommend The Grill restaurant which is located next to the Six Senses Spa, we loved it! We also liked the service and food at Brassa Grill Bar. In the establishments we tried, every meal was tasty and the atmosphere was very pleasant. During our time at Tortuga Bay, we noticed that the restaurants have high chairs and child-friendly buffets, a real plus for families!

Breakfast is a great experience, it’s excellent! There is a wide choice on the menu and a small buffet. Everything is fresh and mainly produced from a local organic farm.

Tortuga Bay is the only hotel in the Dominican Republic that is among the best hotels in the world. There are no neighbouring resorts in the vicinity, which gives the hotel a very exclusive feel.

In conclusion, I would recommend this hotel to all families who want to relax and have a good time with their children. This idyllic experience will please all those who wish to escape the cold winter season!
