Who said that Swiss mountains could only be visited during winter? Little Guest found for us a small peaceful haven for a summery hike at the Huus Gstaad, the famous Alpine holiday resort.
Determined to treat ourselves with a getaway in nature, far from the city, we chose to go for this lovely bower nested in the mountain and that offers splendid and breathtaking views. First crush: the lobby. A feeling of comfort immediately invaded us (perhaps thanks to the glass of wine offered at our arrival?) with this library filled with books and these soft sofas. The reception desk, that looks discreet at first glance, enhances this intimate and pleasant feeling. The warm and competent staff then proceeded to our check-in quite fast, a bit more than 5 minutes, and here we are, in our accommodation.
The room was as announced: very comfortable. A space that is largely sufficient for two people, yet modern and ideally laid out. There are enough pillows, blankets, and a dressing that is adapted for our personal belongings. Water bottles are there at our disposal as well as a kettle, which is very practical whenever we feel like drinking a warm beverage on the terrace that gives off a view on the valley. Second crush for us!
After wandering in the mountains, notably thanks to the backpacks that are available upon request at the reception desk, it is time for us to relax. Our room bathroom is equipped with a shower (yet, small inconvenience, the water flow loses pressure…) but we then decided to appreciate one of the main attractions of the Huus Gstaad hotel: the sauna. Nothing better to get rid of fatigue and sweat after a long day walking. And, a small bathing in the adjacent swimming pool will eliminate the last cramps!
For the most athletic people, there also is the possibility of using the super modern fitness room. We tested it to muscle up our calves, which eventually was of a good help since the mountain paths can be sinuous.
During our stay, we met with a very friendly family and their lovely children, and, as they told us, the rooms already had all the amenities needed for younger guests: slippers, potties and steps were available upon arrival. Even the sauna can be used by children, at a lower temperature and with an open door (and, obviously, a parent’s supervision).
A kids-club is available for families for free, with a trilingual childminder (French, English and German) to take care of them. The decoration is pleasant and the environment feels perfectly safe. There is everything for your children to be left between good hands while you enjoy a romantic walk or a ski session. For older children and teenagers, game consoles and games (football table, billiard) were also installed.
In general, the hotel offers a large choice of installation for all sorts of activities. Even the youngest ones can play: a baby-club and babysitting services are at the guests’ disposal, with bags, bathrobes and slippers adapted to their size. Also, skis, snowshoes and ski suits are provided for free for children aged up to 9 years old. For older children, hiking backpacks and especially mountain bikes (regular and electric ones) are available for everyone to discover the Alps.
Of course, we had to take talk about the food that we ate during our stay! Even if the breakfast was good, without being the best ever, the lunch and dinners definitely are worth the try! A varied menu, at a reasonable price and of a unparallelled quality, which was the icing on the cake for our trip. We will definitely come back to the Huus Gstaad, as our experience was bewildering and enriching!
Thank you Little Guest, have nice holidays!
