Total relaxation at Zanzibar White Sand Luxury Villas & Spa

 What could be a better way to start the year 2022 than spending two weeks under the sun of Zanzibar? After visiting the island and discovering many of its secrets, my trip comes to an end on the east coast of the country in Paje for a few nights in this magical, intimate a luxurious hotel. A stunning and relaxing experience, here is the story of my wonderful stay at the Zanzibar White Sand Luxury Villas & Spa.

As soon as the doors of the hotel were opening, I already knew I would have a marvellous stay ! We arrived in a taxi and the porter immediately took care of all our luggage. We were kindly greeted by the receptionists in the lobby of the hotel who offered us as a welcoming present two ginger drinks (freshly made) and two towels for us to cool our skin. What a delicate attention !

Our check-in goes in the smoothest way, I had rarely seen such a cheerful and gentle staff personnel. We briefly chatted with everyone and we were then introduced to our butler while all the preparations were made for our accommodation to be ready as we arrive. What is there to say… I could not help but being stunned by the beauty of this place ! I have no words to describe the settings, the tranquility and the atmosphere of this hotel.

It is now time to head to our beachfront 1-bedroom Villa. The path to access this villa goes deep into a lush vegetation and we immediately understood that we would have a complete intimacy there. I was stunned as we discovered the villa, there was too much for my eyes to see, it was amazing: an exotic garden, a private pool, a rooftop, a bathtub and a shower right under the vegetation, a direct access to the beach… I was living a dream!

We then visited the accommodation in which we found a bedroom with an adjoining bathroom and a dressing room. We found on the bed a kind letter from the hotel, and a few presents: two gorgeous pareos and two hats. I was delighted, I actually wanted to buy those near the end of my trip! There was also a living room and a dining room where exotic fruits and handmade cookies were waiting for us. Bonus point for the touchscreen coffee machine that offers all the drinks we wanted.

Napping in a hammock, reading next to the pool, taking a bath under the sun, drinking a cappuccino on the rooftop, resting on the daybed on the beach… We had everything for the most relaxing stay ever, and we loved it ! I wish days were longer so we could enjoy our villa even more… Yet, my most favourite place is the rooftop to stare at the sunrises in the morning and admire the star at night.

By the way, every evening the staff comes to organise the room (mosquito net, mosquito spray, new water bottles, cleaning) so we had nothing to worry about once we would head back to the villa.

A gigantic villa just for the two of us: all alone on our little heaven on the beach!

A welcome cocktail was organised for us on the first evening on the beach, so we could start our stay in the best way. Incredible settings, aperitives, local cocktails and live music, what a great night! We then headed to the main restaurant for the dinner. We were delighted by all the flavours, the presentation of the plates and the service. Coconut spiced fish stew and white chocolate and passion fruit mousse, so tasty! To end the night on the best note, we went to the Sunset Bar to have a tea and games of darts.

What a pleasure to start the day in such a verdant setting with a large buffet: fresh fruits, a great choice of fruit juices, all sorts of jams, delicious breads and pastries. There is also a a large choice for people preferring salty food! Besides the buffet, there were pancakes, waffles, crepes or even avocado toasts, among many other things!

Children will have plenty of fun with the playground full of all sorts of toys and the play room (soccer table, PlayStation, movies…). There even is a tiny farm, with rabbits and bees. As a copywriter at Little Guest, I was happy to see how gentle and careful the personnel was with the children !

The hotel offers beautiful bikes to ride for free, for the parents and the children, that can be ridden on gravel or sand, so you can easily visit the surrounding villages of Paje and Jambiani where we loved to go to meet local villagers and taste specialties from there.

White Sand Luxury Villas Spa also has everything to please people who seek for watersports with their own kite surf club. The Paje beach is known to be one of the best kite surf spot. We personally chose to go for a quieter activity: glass bottom canoes, which are offered to the clients for free. I must admit, with such paradisiac settings, we did not have enough time to appreciate all the landscapes had to offer!

During our tour on the island, we visited many places: Prison Island, where we had the chance to approach and feed giant tortoises or Jonazi’s park, where we discovered Zanzibar endemic monkeys, and, of course, Stone Town, that is a must see. We also recommend boat trips during which you will have high chances to sail along with the dolphins. This is an experience I will never forget.

Just as if we had not been spoiled enough, our butler brought us a goodbye present, a pretty pouch filled with local teas, spices and a soap, such a kind attention!

In conclusion, our stay unfortunately was shot, but very intense, full of pretty things to see and moments to remember. I already miss this little paradise. I highly recommend you to discover this magical and authentic place, far from the usual beaten tracks and mass tourism. It is now your turn to pack your suitcase, and trust me, you won’t regret it!
