In February, I spent a short stay at Diamond Rock. Here is my testimony.
The first asset of this newly opened charming hotel is its location at the foot of the slopes. Every morning, the ski room staff takes the skis out of the (heated) lockers of the guests and plants in the snow a small flag with their room number so that the skiers can easily find their equipment and start their day of skiing in complete serenity.
The ski area of Tignes is linked to that of Val d’Isère, which offers hundreds of kilometres of pistes! The landscapes are splendid and as the resort is located at high altitude, the snow is often abundant.
The decoration of the establishment is particularly successful, in the common areas, but also in the rooms. It is a Scandinavian style, perfectly balanced between tradition and modernity. Just what I like! The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Several of them even have super-stylish bunk beds for the kids. Most rooms can be interconnected and family suites are available. Many rooms have their own private terrace. I recommend staying in a room with a view of the slopes and the mountain, as the view is really stunning. A special mention for the state-of-the-art Dyson hairdryer in the bathroom!
The hotel has two restaurants, a traditional Savoyard restaurant and a chic brasserie serving delicious seafood platters. It is also pleasant to enjoy an onion soup or a cheese board in the cosy hotel bar. Prices are commensurate with the services provided, but not prohibitive.
At the end of the day, we were lucky enough to enjoy an après-ski snack made of hot chocolate and pancakes. This kind of hospitality is a hallmark of the hotel. The service is really good and the staff is charming. The atmosphere is chic and relaxed and this creates a nice feeling.
The hotel offers a free kids’ club, but what children like most is the incredible games room in the basement. The place has its own bowling alley, but also a table football and arcade games. Fun guaranteed!
The hotel also has its own small cinema. At the end of the day, there is a screening for children and another one – for everyone – later in the evening. Parents will enjoy the spa, sauna and indoor pool. Every Monday there is a free yoga class.
In conclusion, I would say that the Diamond Rock is a real favourite hotel that will delight every member of the family! I had a very pleasant stay here and I highly recommend it for your next winter holiday in the mountains.
Have a great skiing holiday!
